Sprout

Formative | University -- Second Year
November 2020

One of the most fast-paced and exciting briefs we had this semester was the colour film brief. We had to create a short film of approximately 1 minute about our assigned colour – which was green. This formative project opened up our worlds to art direction and film. However, it gave me the perfect excuse to include the videos I keep taking on my phone.

The story board I created for our film concept was about the connection and intimacy we have with ourselves.

The approach we took to our film’s direction was to focus on environment as being one with nature is something that makes people go through the process of reflection and plays a vital role in our self-acceptance journey.

Together, as a group, we created the film ‘Sprout’. Our film ‘Sprout’ is inspired by the song Green Eyes by Arlo Parks, “Some of these folks wanna make you cry / but you gotta trust how you feel inside.” It navigates self-acceptance through the duration of life. So with this film we wanted to portray new beginnings and how the world becomes green when you accept who you are and learn to grow.
